A FAR CRY FROM PRESTON

Morris Commercial T2 ‘As fit as a butcher's dog’ • This magnificent box van is 95 years old, yet looks well capable, and eager to still do a day’s work. It was built at the Soho Works in Birmingham, as a factory-built 1ton van, finished in maroon paint, first registered 8 November 1930 (in the 1931 Model Year; that ran from September to September). So, one of the very early T2 models, the change came at Chassis number 23099, the number of this one is 23353.

Impressive Model Show at Motor Museum • The Classic and Vintage Commercials show at the British Motor Museum’s site at Gaydon, brought in some great lorries this year. Inside the museum building, an equally fascinating exhibition was being held. The Gaydon Model Truck Festival, two rooms packed with some stunning, hand-made miniatures of their real-life counterparts outside. The festival itself, coupled to the National Association of Road Transport Modellers (NARTM), was supported by a host of model-based traders; the exhibition festival room was at its capacity of 150 tables.
